GOVERNANCE

ACT4ALS-MND is a clinical research network dedicated to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and other Motor Neurone Diseases. It is part of the FilSLAN network and has F-CRIN accreditation. It is located at the Paris Brain Institute (ICM), within the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital in Paris.

Four bodies :

It consists of the following coordinators:

  • Pr Gaëlle Bruneteau (neurologist, Paris ALS Centre)
  • Pr Julien Cassereau (neurologist, head of the Angers ALS Centre)
  • Pr Philippe Couratier (neurologist, head of the FilSLAN healthcare network, head of the Limoges ALS Centre)
  • Pr David Devos (neurologist and pharmacologist, Lille ALS Centre)
  • Dr Aude-Marie Grapperon (neurologist, Marseille ALS Centre)

And two project managers responsible for centralising information and running the network

  • Ms Alizé Chalançon
  • Ms Nadia Osman

This committee coordinates the network and makes decisions about its operations and its involvement in clinical research projects. Meetings are held monthly.

The committee is made up of ALS centre coordinators and senior medical staff, the head of the European TRICALS network and project leaders. Its mission is to define and validate the network's strategic orientations and scientific objectives. It meets annually to present the results of its activities, actively discuss network projects and share any difficulties encountered by network members on academic or industrial projects.

The Scientific Committee is made up of coordinators and scientific experts in clinical and preclinical research. Its role is to provide scientific advice. The committee meets on request, depending on projects and current scientific developments.

The investigation units are the medical and paramedical teams at the 22 ALS centres in the network who carry out the studies and include the patients. A bimonthly meeting is held with the clinical research associates (CRAs) and the clinical research nurses (CRNs).
